Restorative Justice for People of Color 101 (10 Aug 2026)

In this 90-minute interactive workshop, we will explore how restorative justice practices can strengthen our relationships, leadership, and shared accountability as a DRUUMM community. Grounded in our newly updated Community Health & Safety Policy and Community Covenant, this session offers practical tools for navigating harm, conflict, and repair in ways that are aligned with our values.

Together, we’ll reflect on why restorative approaches matter in covenantal spaces, learn a simple framework for meaningful apology and accountability, and engage real-life scenarios through guided discussion. This workshop is especially relevant for DRUUMM leaders, members, and anyone committed to building healthier, more responsive community practices.

If you missed our earlier workshop, we are happy to offer this again, and if you're intersted in deeper training, we anticipate offering a two-part series in the Winter.

Speaker Profile

Alison Aguilar Lopez Gutierrez McLeod (she/hers) is a restorative conflict facilitator and lifelong Unitarian Universalist dedicated to building more just and accountable communities. She serves as Lead Facilitator for Restorative Conflict with the Tariq Khasima Foundation, working with youth, families, and community members to develop tools for de-escalation, accountability, and healing.

Alison also serves as Co-Chair of the UUA Ministerial Fellowship Committee, where she has helped integrate restorative and anti-oppressive practices into ministerial formation. With a background in education, nonprofit leadership, and social justice organizing, she brings a grounded, relational approach to navigating conflict. As a transracial adoptee, she centers inclusive, story-based practices that honor lived experience and foster deeper understanding.

We come together to build our beloved community from around the world. We are united in our vision of healing from oppression, self-determination, and the anti-racist, anti-oppressive transformation of Unitarian Universalism.

Your hosts will be DRUUMM Outreach Co-Coordinators Rev. Karishma Gottfried and Devin Dadah.
