"Umoja: We’re All in This Thing Together" December 28 at 2:00 PM EST
On December 28, the Community Church of New York and Brother Zachary Stevens Walter will share a celebration of unity through our shared value of pluralism.
Recognizing humanity’s shared ancestry in the African continent, we celebrate the African diaspora around the world made visible in the history of the banjo, a transcultural instrument invented in the Caribbean. Despite having its history white-washed, this instrument represents not only the cultural diversity of our mother continent, but the creativity and expensive vision of the ancestors that survived the transatlantic slave trade.
