A Child Dedication (often called a baby blessing) is a joyous occasion. It is when a community comes together and speaks with one voice, and that voice agrees to support and care for the world’s most precious gift, our children.
On January 19, 2026 (at 7:30 PM EST), as Martin Luther King Jr weekend draws to a close, DRUUMM will host our community's first Child Dedication Service, with Rev. Carol Thomas Cissel as our officiant. All parents, partners, and caregivers are welcome to bring their young ones and participate in this collective gathering.
This ceremony is open to all, and dedicated to centering Children of Color in our Unitarian Universalist communities. We uplift our families of color and multiracial families in this space.
Please register to attend. For those presenting a baby/child to the community, the registration form includes a few questions to let our organizers know a little bit about you and the baby/child.
