Let's get a couple of drops of spiritual communion mid-week! Join our Vespers leader, Rev. Viola Abbitt, for music, spiritually nutritious fellowship, and a few good words. Come as you are and leave feeling refreshed and renewed.
Rev. Viola Abbitt (she/they) has been the settled minister at Coastal Virginia Unitarian Universalists in Virginia Beach, VA, since 2020. Before that she served as the half-time minister for two UU congregations in New York State, the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Poughkeepsie and the First Unitarian Society of Westchester. Rev. Viola is a member of the Nominating Committee of the UUA and one of the founding members of the Interfaith Coalition in Support of Human Rights, an advocacy group in the Hampton Roads Area in Virginia.
This event is BIPOC-only, a sacred space reserved for those who identify as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color and UU or interested in Unitarian Universalism. DRUUMM recognizes every Community of Color is impacted differently, and each community maintains its own unique identity and culture. BIPOC/People of Color/Person of Color/Community of Color is a political identity of survival and being in resistance to racism and colonialism, one that builds solidarity and creates positive change. White allies with questions or concerns are strongly encouraged to reach out to Allies for Racial Equity.
DRUUMM is Unitarian Universalism’s oldest and largest People of Color collective. We are a front door for new people and a spiritual home that enriches our liberal religious tradition.
