We warmly invite all DRUUMM members and BIPOC Friends to join our Fall Caucus: Free Palestine, Free Humanity. Our gathering is an exceptional opportunity to connect with fellow Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, creating a space for active listening, exploration, and integrating new insights into our collective spiritual and religious journeys.
We will be joined by our guest speakers: Aisha Hauser of Church of the Larger Fellowship, Jacqueline Luqman of Black Alliance for Peace, and Yvonne DuVal of DRUUMM Pennsylvannia. Our keynote panel will engage us on the theme of Free Palestine, Free Humanity, building on our Solidarity with Palestinians resolution we passed at the UUA General Assembly. At the center of our faith tradition is love, and if we believe that love is an action and not just a feeling as bell hooks writes, then we must move. As the USA enters another turbulent election cycle, discover the centralized role of Palestine in the United States’ foreign policy. Uncover how Palestine’s freedom struggle is intricately linked with the liberation of BIPOC communities around the world, as we live into DRUUMM's mission of overcoming racism with resistance. Following the panel, participants will engage in small group discussions, allowing for deeper personal connections and mutual learning.
This virtual gathering is an exclusive opportunity for DRUUMM Members (membership starts at $15/year) and BIPOC Friends ($25 fee) and will be conducted via Zoom. Please register by October 17 to help us prepare our program and small groups. For those who identify as White and are interested in supporting DRUUMM, we recommend exploring the UU Allies for Racial Equity. More information and registration can be found at www.uuare.org.
Join us as we affirm our diverse identities and advance our collective mission to foster a more inclusive and reflective community.
This event is BIPOC-only, a sacred space reserved for those who identify as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color and UU or interested in Unitarian Universalism. DRUUMM recognizes every Community of Color is impacted differently, and each community maintains its own unique identity and culture. BIPOC/People of Color/Person of Color/Community of Color is a political identity of survival and being in resistance to racism and colonialism, one that builds solidarity and creates positive change. White allies with questions or concerns are strongly encouraged to reach out to Allies for Racial Equity.
DRUUMM is Unitarian Universalism’s oldest and largest People of Color collective. We are a front door for new people and a spiritual home that enriches our liberal religious tradition.
