Ceasefire Now! Vigil and Teach-In: Voices from the Global South
Hosted by Bay Area DRUUMM

Sunday, December 31st, 2023
12:00 PM to 3:00 PM Pacific Time
Hybrid: First Unitarian Church of Oakland, 685 14th St and via Zoom (Zoom opens at 12:50 PM)

We are answering the call for the religious left to show up in this moment of great violence and grief. The ongoing genocide in Palestine will not end without our voices speaking out. At this point, a #ceasefire is a bare minimum as Palestinians are dealing with mass displacement, dispossession, and famine. This is a grave humanitarian crisis.

As BIPOC Unitarian Universalists, we felt called to move in solidarity with the Palestinian people as they are members of the Global South. We hope this event will serve as an offering to our Bay Area community and beyond to become more invested in building a peaceful world.

Please join us for an art build at noon, vigil at 1pm, and teach-in at 1:30pm on New Year’s Eve 2023.

Vigil will be held with the theme of “past, present, and future” with a 3-part ritual and musical offering. The teach-in invites attendees to learn and reflect on the genocide in Palestine. We will host speakers from Arab, Muslim, Jewish, Asian, indigenous, and Black-led and organized organizations in the Bay Area. Questions will include themes around organizing, liberation struggles, solidarity, and action.

Come for all or part of the event. This event requires registration for both in-person and virtual attendance. The event will be live streamed. Masks are highly encouraged.
